I've always had really high arches, and never the right shoes, so my feet have always hurt. Then, in May, I got ankle surgery to repair torn cartilage, and there was some nerve damage, so I've been in A LOT of pain.

Physical therapy was helping but when I went back to work (on my feet) I started reverting to my pre-PT state.

When I saw the TV add for these it caught my attention, so I read a bunch of reviews, all saying how wonderful they are. I had to see for myself.

I went to a bunch of shoe stores in my area looking, and couldn't find them anywhere...but I kept searching. I finally found a Sketchers outlet about an hour from home and called them up, they just got them in for the first time that day! I headed out, and limped (cane in hand) around the outlet mall trying to find the store; by the time I got there I thought my leg was going to fall off. They pulled my size out of the shipment box, they hadn't even made it to the shelf yet. I, surprised at how small and cute they looked compared to the pics I'd seen online, popped them on and went into shock. I put my cane down and walked across the store - no problem. I even bounced a little. I walked back to my car with them on - no cane! I'm in heaven, the reduction of impact when you step is mind blowing. I can not believe how good they feel. Totally worth the 0 I spent.

I have worn the MBT shoes for a few years now - but never out in public, other than walking in the neighborhood. Why? Well, just look at them. The Skecher's version are much "cuter". I wore them with shorts over the summer, and received compliments simply on their looks! I find them to be just as effective as the MBT's - perhaps more so, because I am willing to wear them more frequently. The difference between the two seems to be that on the MBT the "squishy" material is only under the heel, while on the Shape-ups it is under most of the foot. I notice my calves and upper legs getting a workout from the Shape-ups and my posture is greatly improved when I wear them - which means less back pain. Also, I noticed that the pain I usually feel in my heels at the end of the day doesn't exist on the days I wear my Shape-ups! If you're "thinking about it" DO IT!

I bought these for my 6 year old daughter. At first she did have a tough time getting them on, however after a week or two of daily wear, they slip on easily. The charm has broken off, but really - who expected this to stay on with normal child's play? It would be totally unrealistic. We haven't experienced any loss of the "twinkles" on the toes or had an problems with the elasticity. I am definitely going to buy her another pair soon. She really loves them and they have held up under heavy play.

I bought these shoes for my daughter for Christmas and while they are very cute they run very small. Unfortunately the site gives no advice on sizing up. After stretching them and trying to loosen the area across the top of the foot we eventually had to cut the tongue open and loosely lace the shoes up with shoelaces.

I mentioned this to friends and lo and behold they had similair experiences. So take my advise order a full size larger and you won't be disappointed!

I like it for my workouts. Only two things bothered me some~~ the tongue slipped down constantly and the arch support wasn't as good as I need because I stand on my feet a lot as a substitute teacher! Otherwise, I liked the style and I was asked where I got them and what brand they were! I have another pair of Skechers that are more comfortable.

This shoe is super comfy and seems to be giving my legs a workout. While I can't really see any results yet (I've had for less than a month), I can feel my legs working out. Feels like walking on air. I like the mary jane style...pretty cute and very easy to put on and take off. While they may be a little weird looking because of the semi-circular bottom, you hardly notice it and it also makes you taller . If I order another pair though, I might go up 1/2 size. Only drawback is they seem to be just a little small (and I have narrow feet). Overall glad I purchased.

I am an MBT user and was really hoping that the Skechers Shape Ups would work because I like the appearance and price of the Skechers. I am a dancer and doc so I am very aware of how shoes are made and whether they can help or cause health problems.

However, while they may look similar on the outside (ie. chunky sole), this Skechers model is functionally very different that MBTs: when I wear the Skechers, the way the soft sole is constructed just makes my feet/ankle role inward (very bad if you have normal or flat feet). Also the Skechers bottom isn't as squishy/angled as MBT's so it doesn't have the MBT wobbly effect that forces my thighs/butt to tense up to "work out" while standing or walking.

In summary, the Skechers Shape Ups feels just like a regular sneaker with an extra-large cushioned sole, and doesn't have have the right amount/location of instabilty to match the effects of MBT. If you have very forgiving feet and just want a cute walking shoe, this might be right for you. But it definitely isn't going to give you the type of "workout" that MBT's do, and it can cause injuries in anyone with feet or knee problems.

(BTW: If you've never used MBT before, imagine yourself trying to balance on one leg while standing on a soft couch or mattress -- all sorts of muscles have to spring into action. A major difference with MBT's is despite the intentional instability effect that it is trying to create, my flat feet feel very well supported and doesn't cause my arches/ankles from sinking like with the Skechers.

There are lots of MBT styles online that aren't sold in stores. For example, if you search for the "MBT Lami" it looks very similar to this Skecher shoe. Check out zappos dot com or swissmasaius dot com for all the options.

I bought these for work, I am a nursing supervisor. I thought, if I am doing all this walking, I might as well get some extra benefit, right? Well, I had no idea how comfortable these would be. They take a little getting used to, but after a few days, it's like gliding on air. I have bunions on both feet, and any time I walk at a fast pace, they were hurting. My mom had the surgery for this, and I was thinking I would need to be having it myself soon. In these shoes, I can do all the brisk walking I want and my bunions do not hurt one bit. Also, I have been wearing these for a month and there is a noticeable difference in the way my legs and behind look and feel. The biggest difference is in the calf area, my calves are literally rock hard now. You don't think they are giving you a toning benefit while you are wearing them, but when you take them off, your legs and behind are sore like you were working out. If you are on the fence about buying these- they are worth every penny! They are true to size for me, usually wearing a 9 and taking a 9 in these also. I love them so much that I bought the Mary Janes and I bought my husband a pair, he loves them also.

I walked 30 min am and 30 min pm daily, the first week I got these. I had no break in period. If you follow the instructions and keep your shoulders back, chest up and eyes forward, you will be in the position to create the rocking, rhythmic, motion that will work all the muscles you want worked; and help you keep your balance. One caution- making sudden changes in direction can knock you off balance. I needed to go up a half size. My lower back felt terrific due to the extra cushioning the Shape Ups provide when walking on hard concrete. Sadly, it is too icy and slippery to wear during our Winter weather. Highly recommended.

These shoes are worth every penny for me! I now own 3 pair so i can match w/scrubs i wear to work everyday. My back pain has reduced by at least 50% and my legs are becoming more defined/toned. I don't make time to exercise like i used to and these shoes help to use muscles that don't get enough attention. An added bonus is that they add inches to my petite height which has a slimming effect! Thank you Skechers for making a hip, fashion-forward product w/all these benefits too!
